2016 Presidential Election

First, I voted for Hillary. Not because I wanted to defeat Trump, but because I took the time to research her history in politics and the public eye. I did not listen to anything from Trump and took everything the media said with a grain of salt. I weighed her mistakes against her accomplishments and found her to be  a competent person to lead our nation. Yes she has flaws, but so do we all. Yes she made some bad judgment calls, but so do we all and she certainly came up with a better record on these than her opponent.

It is also my opinion that the conduct of congress over the last 8 (and especially the last 4) years has been reprehensible. They have wasted the countries time and money by focusing their efforts on trying to denigrate the Democrats and the president. To ensure that President Obama could get little accomplished and appear to have failed as a president. In that they have done a good job. If congress had worked with the president and for the people that elected them our country would be in far better shape today.

However, by placing their own selfish interests ahead of the countries business they created the current state of affairs. YES, you heard me right. Not only did they cause the country to become more disillusioned with congress and our government than we ever have before they also caused the perfect storm that Mr. Trump road right into winning the election. Yup, the do nothing congress pissed people off, made them so disillusioned with government that they wanted anyone who looked like change, who told them what they wanted to hear because it had to be better than what we’ve been dealing with for the last 8 years. AND think about this … we paid them to do this.

People could excuse Trumps comments and views so antithetical to what our country is supposed to have stood for, because he was “just kidding” or it was “locker room talk” or he simply said “ I never said that “ when in fact he had. They could blind themselves to all that and boil him down to ‘Change’ and that’s all they could see.

I assume this because I have a hard time believing the all the people who voted for him are bigots/misogynist/racists/dumb asses. They simply all could not be these things though I suspect some number of them are.

Boiling this all down then …

The actions of the republican lead congress that did nothing but waste our time created Trump. Created the political environment in this country that allowed him to get elected. The republicans got just what they deserved. A candidate they could not stomach and one who many in the leadership could not endorse.

AND Thanx to them we are now stuck with him.
