On The impeachment inquire of donald trump by the US house of Representatives
This is like most other legal proceedings where you have a
Grand Jury and then if warranted a Trial.
The House acts as a Grand Jury and the Senate acts as the Trial
court.
So for all of you who failed you civics class………..
First you have a Grand Jury that investigates potential
criminal conduct and decides if there should be charges brought. There is no
defense, no right to face your accusers as you are not a criminal defendant yet. It’s simply what leads to a trial.
Grand Juries are good things that act as a foil to over
zealous prosecutors who may have their own agendas. They are a necessary part of
our legal proceedings and as a general rule are held behind closed doors and
NOT PUBLIC.
THEN YOU HAVE A TRIAL. Where all your legal protections under
the sixth amendment come into play. Your rights to hear the evidence against
you and face your accusers. Your right to defend yourself and explain your
actions and reasons for what happened. AND where a jury of your peers decides
if you broke the law.
Its that simple folks… Congress is performing their duties
under the constitution of this country you hold so dear. The president has no
legal rights yet as he is not a criminal defendant yet.
That’s how the law works people even when it relates to the president.
